Gilgit: Following the completion of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly’s term, the newly appointed caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (R) Yar Muhammad, took the oath of office on Wednesday.
Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Syed Mehdi Shah administered the oath.
Speaking briefly to the media after the ceremony, Justice (R) Yar Muhammad said that his foremost priority is to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections in the region. He added that every possible effort would be made to uphold neutrality during the electoral process.
Regarding the formation of the caretaker cabinet, he said he would take time to carefully consider suitable names and include individuals known for competence and integrity.
Justice (R) Yar Muhammad hails from Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Amir Maqam, along with judges, former GB chief minister Haji Gulbar Khan, GB Assembly Speaker Nazir Ahmed, former provincial ministers, Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Abrar Ahmed Mirza, senior bureaucrats, political leaders, public representatives and members of the media.
