A 29 year old man lost his life due to Naegleria at a private hospital in Karachi. This is the fifth death caused by Naegleria in Sindh this year.
According to the Sindh Health Department, the resident of District Central began showing symptoms on September 7. The patient was admitted to the hospital on September 11 but passed away the same day.
The Health Department stated that confirmation of Naegleria was made on September 12, after the patient’s death.
Reports indicate that the deceased had not participated in any water related activities and had only used tap water for drinking and bathing.
Medical experts confirmed that this marks the fifth death from Naegleria in Sindh this year. They advised citizens to use boiled water and ensure chlorination of water reservoirs.
