At Karachi’s largest government hospital, Jinnah Hospital, the absence of doctors has caused severe difficulties for patients.
Most of the doctors assigned to the 8 a.m. shift had not arrived at the hospital even by 10:30 a.m.
During a surprise visit by Executive Director Jinnah Hospital Dr. Shahid Rasool, the majority of professors and directors were found absent, after which 40 doctors were issued show-cause notices.
According to sources, a large number of doctors were absent from the OPD, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Medical ICU, Ward 23, Dental, and ENT OPD departments.
Patients and their attendants have demanded immediate corrective measures from the hospital administration.
