Karachi: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) recovered narcotics from the luggage of an Umrah-bound passenger at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport as part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown against drug smuggling.
According to an ANF spokesperson, five separate operations were conducted in different cities, resulting in the arrest of five suspects and the recovery of 195.22 kilograms of narcotics worth more than Rs235 million.
At Jinnah International Airport, ANF officials recovered 875 grams of ice and 90 grams of heroin from the luggage of a passenger traveling for Umrah and took the suspect into custody.
In another operation near Kuchlak Bypass in Quetta district, 78 kilograms of charas were recovered from a vehicle and two suspects were arrested. Separately, 18 kilograms of charas were seized from a vehicle near Chungi No. 26 in Islamabad, leading to the arrest of one suspect.
Additionally, 2.2 kilograms of charas were recovered from a suspect near a hospital on GT Road in Rawalpindi. In yet another operation near Kuchlak Bypass, Quetta, ANF officials seized 61 kilograms of ice.
Cases under the Anti-Narcotics Act, 1997 have been registered in all operations, and further investigations are underway.
