KARACHI – In a major breakthrough, Karachi Police have arrested the ringleader of the so-called “Housemaid Gang” with the assistance of Interpol. The suspect, identified as Imran son of Abbas Ali, was apprehended in Saudi Arabia and handed over to Pakistani authorities on Sunday.
According to DSP Investigation Bin Qasim, Shah Nawaz Memon, Karachi Police had earlier requested Interpol to issue red warrants for the suspect’s arrest. Imran was detained in Saudi Arabia, where he served a nine-month sentence under local laws before being repatriated to Pakistan and handed over to Bin Qasim Investigation Police.
Police officials said the accused operated a network of housemaids across Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. The women would secure domestic jobs and later steal gold and cash from the households. Imran facilitated the gang by providing transportation and other logistical support.
The DSP further revealed that two female members of the gang, involved in thefts in Darakhshan and Steel Town, were already in police custody. One of their heists included stealing valuables from the home of political leader Saadia Javed in Darakhshan.
The suspect reportedly fled to Saudi Arabia using funds from the stolen money to obtain a free visa. Police confirmed that Imran is also wanted in multiple theft cases registered across Punjab. He will be presented before the Malir Court for remand.
