KARACHI – Police have arrested another “millionaire” domestic worker in Defence, recovering gold and cash worth millions of rupees from his possession. The suspect has confessed to the crime during interrogation.
According to a statement issued by the District South Police spokesperson, the Sahil Police acted on a complaint filed by a woman homeowner and arrested her domestic employee, recovering a large quantity of gold and cash.
The arrested suspect has been identified as Wajid Ali, who had been working at the same residence for the past eight years. Police registered a case against him under the complaint of the homeowner.
During initial questioning, Wajid Ali admitted that he had been stealing cash, gold, U.S. dollars, and other valuables from the house over several years. He also confessed to transferring large sums through ATM transactions and cheques, with the total amount reaching several million rupees.
Following his confession, police recovered a substantial quantity of stolen items from the suspect’s possession, including two 5-tola gold bars, two 2-tola gold bars, seven 1-tola gold bars, and Rs. 227,000 in cash.
The spokesperson added that the accused also revealed that he had purchased expensive properties and vehicles with the stolen money and transferred funds to multiple bank accounts.
The Sahil Police have registered a case and handed the suspect over to the Investigation Police, who are now tracing his bank transactions, assets, and other details.
