KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of scorching weather conditions across Karachi, with hot and humid weather expected to persist over the next three days. The port city will also experience intermittent gusty winds, offering little relief from the intense heat.
According to the PMD, daytime temperatures in Karachi are forecast to range between 35°C and 37°C, while the minimum temperature recorded early Sunday was 28.2°C. Humidity levels remain high at around 78%, accompanied by sea breezes blowing at 16 km/h. The city is also experiencing elevated atmospheric pressure, further intensifying the discomfort.
Meanwhile, a severe heatwave is gripping Balochistan and is expected to continue through June 12. Although Quetta and its surrounding areas remain dry and clear, the province’s northern districts are also experiencing dry conditions, while the central and southern regions are facing extreme heat. Temperatures across Balochistan are currently 4°C to 6°C above normal seasonal averages. On Saturday, Sibi recorded a sweltering 49°C, Turbat 41°C, and Nokkundi 43°C.
Sindh is not far behind in feeling the heat. The PMD has also issued warnings for the upper and central parts of the province, where temperatures are expected to soar 3°C to 5°C above normal through June 12.
Authorities urge residents in affected areas to stay indoors during peak hours, remain well-hydrated, and take all necessary precautions to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.
