Kaspersky has issued a global warning about a surge in scam and phishing attacks targeting online shoppers during the ongoing 11.11 sale campaigns. The cybersecurity company reports that scammers are creating fake websites mimicking major e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Lazada to steal payment information and drain victims’ bank accounts.
According to Kaspersky, these fraudulent sites send fake order confirmations, collect full payment details, and leave victims without products. Links to these sites are often shared through emails or misleading ads, making it difficult for users to distinguish real deals from scams.
Senior Web Content Analyst Olga Altukhova said that fraud spikes during big sales events because urgency clouds judgment, urging users to verify website authenticity, avoid unsolicited links, and use separate bank cards for online purchases. She said customers who entered data on suspicious sites should contact their banks immediately.
Kaspersky advises users to check sender identities, avoid opening unknown attachments, and carefully examine website URLs and design before entering personal details. The company also recommends using devices with strong security software such as Kaspersky Premium, which is certified for detecting fake shops.
Shoppers are encouraged to review online banking statements regularly and report unauthorized transactions immediately to minimize potential financial damage.
