Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting where major decisions were taken to improve the Primary and Secondary Healthcare System.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister ordered the implementation of the Red and Blue Code Emergency System in hospitals and directed that it be made operational within two days. A principal decision was also made to establish a CM Health Vigilance Squad, which will monitor the implementation of the Chief Minister’s directives in hospitals.
Maryam Nawaz instructed that ventilators must be provided for both pediatric and adult patients in every teaching and district hospital, stressing that no patient should lose their life due to the unavailability of cardiac treatment facilities.
She made it mandatory for consultants and heart surgeons to be present in district hospitals and emphasized that asking patients to travel to other cities for treatment is unjust and will no longer be tolerated.
The Chief Minister also requested a list of required specialists in district hospitals and ordered a formal audit of outsourced cleaning and parking services.
