Khunjerab Top, the breathtaking mountain pass linking Pakistan with China, witnessed its first snowfall of the winter season on Monday. The sudden change in weather draped the rugged peaks in a white blanket, transforming the region into a stunning snowy landscape. Temperatures dropped sharply as flakes continued to fall, signaling the early arrival of winter in the northern highlands.

The snowfall quickly drew tourists from nearby areas and beyond, eager to witness the mesmerizing views and experience the chill of the season’s first snow. Many visitors described the scene as magical, with the snow-covered mountains and winding roads offering picture-perfect moments. Local vendors also saw a rise in business as tourists flocked to enjoy hot tea and traditional snacks in the cold weather.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the country in the coming days. However, a westerly wave approaching from the north may bring rain to upper regions, including parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, starting October 3.

The Met Office also mentioned the possibility of thundershowers in some southeastern areas of Sindh later in the day. While most of Pakistan remains dry, the brief spell of snow and potential rain has added a refreshing twist to the country’s early October weather, offering both locals and tourists a taste of the coming winter.
