Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, staged a sit-in on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi along with several senior party leaders after being stopped by police from proceeding toward Adiala Jail.
A heavy contingent of police was deployed at the Gorakhpur checkpoint, where officers prevented the KP chief minister from moving further. Tensions briefly rose as Afridi insisted that he and his team be allowed to visit Imran Khan.
“We will not leave until we are permitted to meet Imran Khan,” Afridi said during the protest. He added that the delegation wished to check on the former prime minister’s well-being and receive clarity about his health.
Meanwhile, Adiala Jail authorities confirmed that the scheduled visiting hours had ended, and no political leader — including the KP chief minister — was allowed to meet Imran Khan today.
Afridi was accompanied by Provincial Minister Shafi Jan, MNA Shahid Khattak, Provincial Minister Meena Khan, Shaukat Yousafzai, Amirullah Marwat, and Shafqat Abbas during the sit-in.
