The Punjab government has taken major action against substandard medicines and ordered the recall of two medicines from the market.

‎According to an alert issued by the Health Department, a notice has been issued to recall Cetirizine 10mg tablets and Ivermectin injection. Human and veterinary medicines have also been banned for being substandard.

‎The Drug Testing Laboratory declared the medicines harmful to health and issued instructions that pharmaceutical companies immediately recall the relevant batches, while the Health Department also ordered medical stores and pharmacies to immediately stop the sale of the medicines.

‎The Health Department directed the public not to use suspicious batches, as there is a risk of adverse effects from the use of substandard medicines. Meanwhile, the Drug Control Department has decided to enforce strict monitoring against counterfeit and substandard medicines and announced that actions will be further intensified.
