Lebanon has become the country with the fastest growing number of cancer cases and deaths in the world.

‎According to a study, new cancer cases in Lebanon have increased by approximately 162% between 1990 and 2023, while deaths have risen by nearly 80%.

‎Lebanon has reported the highest cancer rates in the Middle East region, including breast cancer, lung cancer, and bladder cancer.

‎For instance, the rate of breast cancer in Lebanon is found to be much higher compared to other countries. Several factors contribute to this, including the high prevalence of smoking, air pollution, excessive use of generators, agricultural chemicals, and weaknesses in the public health system.

‎Other reports have also identified Lebanon as the country with the fastest growing number of cancer cases.
