A recent study from the U.S. has found that people living near the sea tend to live longer than those in other areas.
According to a medical website, the study analyzed data from over 66,000 locations across the U.S., focusing on living conditions, average life span, and closeness to water bodies.
Experts found that people living within 30 miles of the ocean live an average of over 79 years, while those living near rivers or lakes in cities live around 78 years.
Possible reasons include better air quality, milder weather, more chances for physical activity, safer transport, and higher incomes in coastal areas.
In contrast, urban water areas may face pollution, poverty, limited recreational spaces, and flood risks.
Researchers noted that previous studies also linked living near water to better health, but this is the first large-scale study to explore the connection with life expectancy in detail.
