On August 2, 2027, the world will witness the longest total solar eclipse of this century, known as the Great North African Eclipse. The rare celestial event will plunge parts of North Africa, Southern Europe, and the Middle East into darkness.
During the eclipse, the Moon will completely cover the Sun for an extraordinary 6 minutes and 23 seconds, making it the longest land-based total solar eclipse of the century. Millions of people along its path will be able to see the Sun’s glowing corona.
The eclipse will pass over Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen, with Luxor in Egypt considered one of the best locations to experience peak totality. A total eclipse of this length will not occur again until 2114.
