PESHAWAR: Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs), in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), have announced free on-net voice calls for residents of flood-affected areas, ensuring uninterrupted communication during the ongoing crisis.

According to a PTA statement issued on Sunday, subscribers in the disaster-hit regions can now make free same network calls, even with zero balance. The initiative is aimed at helping citizens remain in touch with their families and access emergency services at a time when connectivity is crucial.

The PTA further shared that over 72 percent of disrupted telecom sites have been restored, while work is in progress to bring the remaining network back online. The Authority commended mobile operators for their timely support and assured that it will continue to monitor services and provide regular updates from the flood-hit areas.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported fresh figures on casualties and damages caused by torrential rains and flash floods across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. At least 313 people have lost their lives, including 263 men, 29 women, and 21 children, while 156 others have been injured. The PDMA added that 159 houses were damaged 97 partially and 62 completely destroyed.
