Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal got his daughter vaccinated against cervical cancer.
In a ceremony held in Karachi regarding cervical cancer prevention, Mustafa Kamal had his daughter administered the vaccine.
Later, addressing the ceremony, Mustafa Kamal said that Pakistan is the 151st country in the world where a campaign for cervical cancer prevention has been launched.
He said that since the beginning of this campaign, misleading propaganda has emerged, and keeping that in view, he decided to have his daughter vaccinated.
Mustafa Kamal stated that in his 30 year political career, he had never brought his family into the public eye, but today, to safeguard the life of every daughter of the nation, he chose to vaccinate his daughter.
He added that he does not want any girl in Pakistan to lose her life to this disease. “This is my only daughter; just as she is dear to me, so are the daughters of the nation,” he said.
Mustafa Kamal further said that perhaps this act might change someone’s mind about the vaccine. “We could have done this quietly in some private place, but I did this solely for the sake of Allah’s will. I don’t want any girl to die from this disease now that the vaccine is available.”
The Federal Minister also said that those with a negative mindset in the country may be guided to the right path. “If there had been any flaw in this vaccine, I would not have had my daughter vaccinated,” he added.
