Lahore — The nation is celebrating the 148th birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the Poet of the East, today with great respect and admiration. Various ceremonies, seminars, and cultural programs are being held across the country to pay tribute to the national poet who awakened the spirit of selfhood and freedom among Muslims of the subcontinent through his powerful poetry and philosophy.
The day began with a special ceremony at Mazar-e-Iqbal (Iqbal’s Mausoleum) in Lahore, where a change of guard took place. Officials of the Pakistan Navy presented the salute, and floral wreaths were laid to honor the great philosopher-poet.
Speakers at different events highlighted Iqbal’s vision for a united and progressive Muslim Ummah, emphasizing that his ideas remain a guiding light for the youth of Pakistan. Educational institutions also organized speech contests and poetry recitals to remember Iqbal’s contributions to literature, philosophy, and the struggle for a separate homeland.
