ISLAMABAD – Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar has vowed full implementation of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC)’s new reforms to modernize Pakistan’s technical and vocational sector.

Speaking at the conclusion of a two-day International Dialogue organized by NAVTTC, she said the reforms aim to align Pakistan’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system with global standards, enhance industrial linkages, and create more job opportunities for youth.

Wajiha Qamar praised NAVTTC Chairperson Gulmina Bilal and lauded the support of international partners, including the EU, British Council, and German Cooperation, in shaping the recommendations.

Highlighting that only 8% of Pakistan’s youth are enrolled in formal TVET programs despite 64% being under 30, she emphasized that skill development is vital for sustainable economic growth.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to harassment-free workplaces, modern curricula, and green economy initiatives across technical institutions.

International delegates appreciated Pakistan’s renewed focus on technical education and expressed support for implementing the reforms aimed at building a globally competitive skilled workforce.
