A two-month newlywed woman was shot dead while her husband sustained injuries in a mysterious incident reported in the Baniyan area along Chak Beli Khan Road, within the limits of Rawat Police Station, Rawalpindi.
According to Rawalpindi Police, a local resident, Suleman, reported that Muhammad Rehan had gone to purchase medicine with his 21-year-old wife, Tayyaba Bibi, on a motorcycle but did not return for a long time. During a search, their motorcycle was found lying abandoned on the road.
Police said that Tayyaba’s body was found near the motorcycle, while Rehan was discovered injured a short distance away. The injured man told police that a suspect identified as Shakeel, along with his accomplices, opened fire, killing his wife and injuring him.
Upon receiving information, SHO Rawat Inspector Zahid Zahoor, along with a police team, reached the scene, collected forensic evidence, shifted the body for post-mortem examination, and moved the injured man to hospital for medical treatment.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had married two months ago. Police also stated that it emerged during the inquiry that the deceased woman’s engagement had previously been arranged elsewhere before the marriage.
Evidence collected from the crime scene showed that two bullets had struck the motorcycle. The deceased woman sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head, while the injured husband was found to have a head injury.
Police officials said the case is being investigated from all possible angles and assured that those involved will be arrested and brought to justice.
