Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government, the health sector, polio workers, and all relevant institutions are determined to completely eradicate polio from the country.

‎Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Rotary International Foundation President Francesco Arezzo, who was accompanied by a delegation. Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal, the Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Polio Eradication Ayesha Raza Farooq, and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.

‎The Prime Minister said that the role of polio workers in the campaigns is highly commendable, adding that the government is grateful to Rotary International for its strong cooperation, like other international organizations, in eradicating this deadly disease from Pakistan.

‎He said that although there are challenges in the way of eradication, it is not impossible, and with determination, hard work, and national unity, Pakistan will ensure a safe future for its children.

‎The Rotary International Foundation delegation appreciated the polio eradication efforts of the Government of Pakistan, stating that with the Prime Minister’s special attention and effective leadership, the disease will soon be eradicated from the country.

‎On the occasion, the Foundation reiterated its commitment to continue supporting the polio eradication program. The delegation informed that last year Rotary International spent 500 million dollars on the anti-polio campaign in Pakistan, and it intends to spend a significant amount this year as well. The delegation also praised the Prime Minister for selecting the polio eradication team and acknowledged their efforts.
