Oxford Union Debate: Pakistan Secures 106 Votes Against India’s 50 Amid Conflicting Reports on Whether Debate Took Place
The Oxford Union’s Pakistan–India debate has sparked controversy after reported voting numbers showed 106 votes in favor of Pakistan’s narrative and 50 votes supporting India’s position. Pakistani students Moosa Harraj, Israr Khan Kakar, and Ahmad Nawaz Khan represented Pakistan in the session.
However, several international outlets have claimed that the debate did not fully take place, alleging that the Indian panel withdrew at the last moment. Indian media described the situation as a “debate cancellation,” while Pakistani outlets termed it a “walkover victory.”
The Oxford Union has yet to issue a detailed official statement, leaving questions about the transparency of the vote and the structure of the event.
Nevertheless, the reported 106–50 vote margin has been widely celebrated across Pakistani social media platforms.
