Pakistan Installs Self-Boarding Machines at Major Airports

Pakistan has introduced automated self-boarding machines at major airports, allowing passengers to get their boarding cards immediately after entering the terminal. The new system aims to cut long queues and speed up the departure process.

According to officials, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will process immigration through a new e-application connected to the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS). Passengers traveling abroad will enter their personal details, visa information, employment status, and purpose of travel into the app.

All airlines operating in Pakistan will be linked to this system. After uploading the required documents, travelers can go straight to the departure lounge, print their boarding card from the self-boarding machine, and complete immigration within minutes.

The FIA stated that the application includes strong security checks, requiring each passenger to submit all necessary documents and answer verification questions before approval.

The self-boarding machines have been installed at Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi airports as part of the first phase of the rollout.
