Pakistan’s cricket team and several of its key players have climbed up the latest ICC Men’s ODI rankings following strong performances in recent matches against South Africa and Sri Lanka.
All-rounder Salman Ali Agha made one of the biggest leaps, moving up 14 places to reach 16th position among ODI batters — the highest of his career. His blistering century (105 off 87 balls) against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi was instrumental in this surge.
Leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed also saw a remarkable jump, climbing 17 spots to reach 20th place among ODI bowlers after his brilliant 4/27 spell against South Africa. Meanwhile, fast bowler Haris Rauf improved three positions to 28th, and young opener Saim Ayub rose 18 places to join the top 35 batters.
Cricket analysts say Pakistan’s consistent form and emerging bench strength are starting to reflect in the global rankings. “These jumps show how the next generation of Pakistani players is stepping up,” said a former selector in a TV appearance.
Despite individual success, Pakistan’s team ranking remains steady in the top five, with India retaining the No. 1 spot. The Green Shirts, however, have narrowed the gap thanks to their recent series wins and improving run rate.Pakistan’s next ODI series is expected early next year, where the team will aim to continue its momentum and push further in the rankings.
