Lahore: The second day of the opening Test between Pakistan and South Africa ended with the visitors battling at 216 for 6, trailing by 162 runs after Pakistan’s solid first-innings total of 378 all out.

South Africa’s resistance was led by Tony de Zorzi, who stood firm with an unbeaten 76 off 134 balls, showing great composure against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack. Senuran Muthusamy remained not out on 6, partnering with de Zorzi as the Proteas look to narrow the deficit on Day 3.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan posted a commanding 378 runs thanks to key contributions from their top order. The bowlers then backed it up with consistent pressure throughout the South African innings, ensuring Pakistan maintained control of the contest.

As things stand, Pakistan holds a strong advantage heading into Day 3, but much will depend on how long South Africa’s lower order can support de Zorzi and whether they can prevent Pakistan from securing a decisive lead.
