PCB Likely to Restrict NOCs: Pakistan Players’ BPL Availability in Doubt

Several Pakistan cricketers are unlikely to participate in the full duration of the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Season 12 due to overlapping international duties, sources confirmed on Thursday.

A strong lineup of Pakistani stars — including Saim Ayub, Khawaja Nafay, Sufiyan Muqeem, Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Nawaz, Jahandad Khan, Ihsanullah, Haider Ali, Usman Khan, Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Amir — has been drafted for the tournament. However, their availability throughout the season now appears uncertain.

Sources revealed that it is “highly unlikely” for centrally contracted players to receive clearance for the entire BPL window. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is also considering tightening NOC rules for players who are now permanent members of Pakistan’s T20I squad. While no definitive refusals have been issued yet, all cases will undergo individual review.

BPL Season 12 will run from December 26, 2025, to January 23, 2026, directly clashing with Pakistan’s international assignments. The national side is scheduled to tour Sri Lanka for a three-match T20I series on January 7, 9 and 11, followed by a home T20I series against Australia later in January — both crucial components of preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Franchises have been informed of the potential unavailability and may begin exploring backup options. Meanwhile, players like Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed and Usman Khan — now core members of Pakistan’s T20I setup — are among the most affected in terms of secure BPL participation.
