Srinagar, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Waheed Parra on Friday announced that party legislators will vote in favor of National Conference (NC) candidates in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
Parra said the decision was made after the NC assured its support for two key legislations in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly the Land Bill and the Daily Wagers Regularization Bill. According to him, the understanding between the two regional parties aims to protect public interests and ensure that long-pending legislations are passed without political deadlock.
“The PDP has decided to vote for the NC candidates after receiving assurance of support for the Land and Daily Wagers Bills in the Assembly,” Parra told Kashmir News Trust.
He further stressed the importance of religious leaders in managing Waqf properties, saying, “Clerics have every right to be the custodians of religious assets.” Parra added that mosques should remain under the supervision of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, describing him as a revered spiritual authority across the Valley.
