Police in Peshawar took swift action against aerial firing during a wedding ceremony on Saturday night within the jurisdiction of Mathra Police Station, arresting the groom and shifting him to custody.
According to police officials, the accused, identified as Tahir Shah, was taken into custody along with the floral garlands he was wearing at the time of the incident. Visuals of the arrest quickly went viral on social media, highlighting the enforcement of law during wedding events.
Authorities stated that aerial firing poses a serious threat to human lives and contributes to public fear and insecurity. They emphasized that no leniency would be shown in such cases.
Meanwhile, Peshawar police have launched a strict crackdown against the growing trend of aerial firing during wedding ceremonies. Officials confirmed that so far this month, 11 grooms have been arrested on charges related to aerial firing and sent to police lockups.
