ISLAMABAD: Motorists using petrol will see a slight reduction in fuel costs, while diesel consumers will face higher rates under Pakistan’s latest petroleum price revision.

Petrol has been reduced by Rs1.60 per litre to Rs377.71, while high-speed diesel (HSD) has increased by Rs1.64 per litre to Rs391.75, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division. The revised prices will take effect from Friday, October 23. The adjustment follows another revision on October 22, when petrol was priced at Rs379.31 per litre and high-speed diesel at Rs390.11.

Pakistan’s daily fuel-pricing mechanism allows domestic rates to be adjusted according to movements in international petroleum markets. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) calculates the rates using the average international prices recorded over the preceding seven days.

Meanwhile, international oil prices climbed on Thursday amid renewed concerns over Middle Eastern supplies following Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and growing regional tensions. The developments have increased concerns about potential disruptions to energy shipments through key maritime routes.
