A meeting of the Polio Technical Advisory Group was held in Islamabad to discuss the current polio situation, existing challenges, and future strategies.
According to details, Federal Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal emphasized that polio eradication is not merely a program but a national mission. “Our fight against polio has involved valuable sacrifices,” he stated.
He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering political and operational commitment to making the country polio-free and stressed that strengthening vaccination efforts remains a top priority. A professional Director General has been appointed for the Directorate of Immunization, and with the help of religious and community leaders, there has been a decline in vaccine refusals.
Mustafa Kamal added that the strategy against polio is aggressive and evidence-based. He said coordinated measures are underway at the provincial level to address access challenges in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He further announced plans to visit Kabul soon to strengthen Pak-Afghan border cooperation. “Despite all challenges, the government remains fully committed to eradicating polio under the leadership of the Prime Minister of Pakistan,” he concluded.
