PTI Lawmakers Question Progress on Efforts to Secure Imran Khan’s Release

PESHAWAR: Several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have expressed concern over what they described as insufficient progress in efforts aimed at securing the release of the party’s founder, Imran Khan, during recent internal party discussions.

The concerns were raised during meetings involving PTI parliamentarians, where members reviewed the party’s political strategy and the status of initiatives launched for the former prime minister’s release. Lawmakers reportedly questioned whether the opposition alliance and party leadership had taken adequate practical steps to achieve the objective.

According to sources familiar with the discussions, some PTI legislators argued that despite repeated announcements and political campaigns, tangible progress toward Imran Khan’s release has remained limited. Several members suggested that the party should reassess its strategy and explore more effective political and parliamentary options.

The debate comes amid continued efforts by PTI leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who have repeatedly called for the former premier’s release and voiced concerns regarding his health and legal situation. Party leaders have also launched campaigns and announced organisational measures aimed at mobilising supporters across the country.

During a recent parliamentary party meeting in Peshawar, lawmakers additionally raised concerns about governance issues, law and order, and public service delivery in the province. Participants emphasized the need for stronger coordination within the party while reaffirming their commitment to Imran Khan’s political vision and leadership.

Despite internal criticism over the pace of progress, PTI leaders maintained that efforts for the release of the party founder would continue through political, legal, and constitutional means. The discussions reflect growing pressure within the party ranks for a clearer roadmap and more visible action regarding one of PTI’s central political demands.
