According to the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), heavy rain is expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Lahore, Gujrat, and Sialkot. Other cities likely to receive significant rainfall include Narowal, Hafizabad, Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur, Jhang, Sargodha, and Mianwali.
Authorities have particularly warned of increased water flow and flash flooding in streams and nullahs of Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galliyat on September 18 and 19.
On the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister, commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province have been placed on high alert. Meanwhile, departments including Health, Irrigation, Communication & Works, Local Government, and Livestock have been instructed to stay vigilant.
Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed urged citizens to avoid recreational trips near rivers and nullahs, and to remain indoors during thunderstorms. He also advised the public to refrain from unnecessary travel and, in case of emergencies, to contact the PDMA helpline 1129 for assistance.
