Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the distribution of 100,000 electric bikes for students across the province, unveiling multiple youth-focused initiatives and declaring 2026 as the “Year of Youth.”
The announcements were made during a Honhar Scholarship and Laptop Scheme event in Lodhran, where she also revealed plans to establish IT cities in several districts and an artificial intelligence center in Lahore.
Maryam Nawaz said the government will start annual distribution of 100,000 laptops along with an equal number of scholarships from next year. She also launched the Parwaz Card, aimed at supporting skilled youth in career development.
Highlighting provincial development, the chief minister said initiatives will not be limited to major cities, adding that districts including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Layyah, Bhakkar, and Sahiwal will receive equal attention.
She also provided an update on housing projects under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar scheme, stating that 125,000 homes are under construction, 50,000 are complete, and over 70,000 are still being built. Additionally, the government will allot three marla plots to landless citizens under the Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar scheme.
