Punjab Declared Polio Free, Not a Single Environmental Sample Tested Positive in March

In March, all 115 environmental samples collected across the country tested negative for polio, and no sample from Punjab was found positive.

‎According to the Polio Control Center report, polio virus is still present in 12 environmental samples in the country, which tested positive, while Punjab has become polio free with not a single environmental sample testing positive.

‎The report stated that the highest number of positive samples, 7, were reported from Sindh, while 4 environmental samples from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tested positive, and one sample from Balochistan also tested positive for the polio virus.

‎On the other hand, 24 samples tested positive in January this year and 14 environmental samples tested positive in February, while 67 environmental samples had tested positive for the polio virus in March last year.
