In view of increasing incidents of dog bites in Punjab, the Health Department has formed a special committee.
On the orders of the Lahore High Court, the Punjab Health Department constituted the special committee. The Special Secretary Health Punjab has been appointed as the head of the committee, while the Director General Health, Livestock Department, district administration, and representatives of the Institute of Public Health will be members of the committee.
According to the notification, the committee will compile comprehensive data on dog bite incidents across the province. It will also review the actions taken by the administration and records related to the elimination of stray dogs.
The availability and supply of anti rabies vaccines in government hospitals will be inspected, and records of funds allocated to control the increasing population of stray dogs and prevent such incidents will be prepared.
As per the notification, a report will be prepared on the status of treatment facilities for dog bite cases. The eight member committee will be required to submit its report to the Lahore High Court by February 10.
