The Punjab government has decided to establish two more teaching hospitals in Lahore.
Both hospitals will be constructed in the proposed Nawaz Sharif Medical District, for which a total of 191 acres of land has been allocated in the city.
According to officials, land has been allocated along the Khayaban e Amin Interchange on Ring Road. Under the project, a new building of Children Hospital Two will be constructed on 99 kanals of land at an estimated cost of 23 billion 68 crore rupees.
In the same medical district, an Infectious Diseases Hospital will be established on 18 kanals, while the total cost of the overall project is estimated at approximately 34 billion rupees. In addition, a Center for Excellence for Nursing Education and Midwifery will be set up on 180 kanals of land, with 13 billion rupees to be spent on its construction.
The Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab has formally issued tenders for the project. Officials say that completion of these projects will not only enhance modern healthcare facilities but will also promote medical education and nursing training.
