Punjab has sought possession from the federal government to construct a children’s hospital and a nursing center at the site of the Federal TB Center.
Sources say it has been decided to hand over the Federal TB Center Rawalpindi to the Punjab government, and the federal government has contacted the Punjab government to seek a transition plan.
Upon submission of the transition plan, ownership of the TB Center will be transferred to the Punjab government. In a letter written to the provincial government, it has been stated that a plan regarding the center’s assets, employees, their permanent status, and the use of equipment should be provided. According to the correspondence, the Ministry of Health will ensure implementation of the cabinet’s decision regarding the TB Center.
It is recalled that the Punjab government has requested the federal government to hand over possession of the TB Center Rawalpindi so that its land may be transferred to the province. Sources say that once possession is granted, the Punjab government will immediately begin construction.
The 129 kanal land of the Federal TB Center Rawalpindi is registered in the name of the federal government. A children’s hospital and a Nursing Excellence Center, with the support of the Asian Development Bank, will be constructed at the site, where nurses will be provided education and training.
