The recent Supreme Court judgment clarified that while narrative details of biblical stories and the contents of the Nicene Creed can and should be taught in schools, the role of shaping religious belief ultimately lies with parents at home.

The Court stated: “Parents have an undoubted right in their own homes to guide and encourage their children to believe in and practise religion.”

The article argues that although modern parents often allow children to form their own beliefs, religious faith remains a meaningful inheritance that passes love and values across generations.

The judgement does not remove any part of religious education from the curriculum; instead, it reorganizes how religion is taught, making the subject more inclusive a change that is widely welcomed.
