Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that Pakistan maintains its firm position that it is Afghanistan’s responsibility to prevent terrorist activities originating from its territory.
In a post shared on social media platform X, the minister expressed gratitude to the brotherly countries of Türkiye and Qatar for facilitating recent negotiations. He stated that the onus now lies on Afghanistan to fulfill its longstanding international, regional, and bilateral commitments to counter terrorism — commitments that, according to him, have yet to be met.
Tarar reiterated that Pakistan continues to hold goodwill toward the Afghan people and wishes them peace and stability.
He made it clear that Pakistan will not support any actions by the Afghan interim government that could harm the interests of the Afghan people or neighboring countries.
The minister affirmed that Pakistan will continue to take all necessary measures to safeguard its national security and sovereignty.
