Russian fitness influencer Dmitry Noviyanzin, 30, has died after attempting an extreme weight-gain challenge that involved consuming massive amounts of junk food every day, according to reports from his hometown of Orenburg.
Noviyanzin had publicly announced that he planned to gain around 25 kilograms as part of a dramatic “before-and-after transformation” project for his social media followers. To achieve this, he began eating over 10,000 calories daily, relying heavily on fast food, sugary snacks and high-fat meals. His daily routine included cakes and pastries for breakfast, dumplings soaked in mayonnaise for lunch, burgers and pizzas for dinner, and constant snacking in between.
Within a month, his weight reportedly jumped from the low 90s to about 105 kilograms, but friends say the rapid change began affecting his health. A day before his death, Noviyanzin cancelled his personal training sessions, telling clients he felt unwell and planned to rest.
He passed away in his sleep shortly after, with early reports suggesting a cardiac episode triggered by the extreme diet. Medical professionals say such rapid weight gain — especially through junk food — can severely stress the heart, raise blood pressure, and disrupt metabolic functions.
His death has sparked intense debate online, with health experts urging people not to follow social media “body transformation challenges” that involve extreme dietary risks. Tributes from followers continue to pour in, remembering Noviyanzin as a dedicated fitness enthusiast who made a fatal miscalculation in pursuit of content.
