Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has announced the launch of the “King Salman Gate” project in Makkah, aimed at expanding the area around the Grand Mosque to accommodate an additional 900,000 worshippers.
The project marks another major step in the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to enhance the pilgrimage experience for millions of Muslims visiting Makkah each year. Alongside the expansion, the initiative will introduce modern facilities and infrastructure designed to make worship and travel more convenient for both pilgrims and local residents.
Officials say the project also seeks to showcase Makkah’s cultural and historical identity, allowing visitors to experience not only the city’s spiritual essence but also its unique heritage. The development aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to improve the quality of life for citizens and visitors while preserving the city’s sacred atmosphere.
