MAKKAH — A team of 800 scouts from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sports has started surveying pilgrims’ accommodation in Mina ahead of the upcoming Hajj season.
The surveys focus on gathering key information about pilgrims’ housing, landmarks, pedestrian routes, and the locations of government service centers. This initiative, conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, aims to improve support services and help guide any lost pilgrims.
The Ministry of Sports has set up five scout camps in Mina, including locations in Al-Mu’aisam 1-2, Al-Rabwa, Wadi Muhsar, and the Operations Camp. Before deployment, scouts underwent a four-day training program focused on teamwork, leadership, and crowd management to prepare them for serving the guests of God.
Each year, thousands of volunteers assist with the Hajj pilgrimage, which brings around 2 million worshipers to Makkah over five days. Volunteers help manage healthcare, distribute meals, handle crowd control, and coordinate transportation to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience.
