Karachi — The Department of Mass Communication at the Federal Urdu University, Abdul Haq Campus, organized a seminar titled “Media’s Efforts for Human Rights and Social Justice”, led by third-semester students.

Renowned social media influencer and founder of JDC Foundation, Zafar Abbas, graced the event as the chief guest. The seminar saw a large gathering of faculty members and students.

Speaking on the power of social media, Zafar Abbas emphasized, “I have raised my voice against powerful mafias in Karachi—be it healthcare issues, water shortages, inflation, or the dumper mafia. The credit for this awareness and resistance goes to the influence of social media.”

Addressing health issues, he stated, “One in every three women in Pakistan is affected by breast cancer, but local doctors often withhold this information for personal gain. To tackle this, I imported a breast cancer detection machine from Germany worth $700,000. Now, a test that once cost a fortune is available for just Rs. 3,000.”

At the conclusion of the seminar, the Head of the Department of Mass Communication presented a shield of appreciation to Zafar Abbas, followed by a photo session with students.
