Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has confirmed that he resigned from his role as a mentor in domestic cricket for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), citing personal commitments and responsibilities. In a statement shared on Instagram,

Malik revealed that he submitted his resignation two weeks ago in writing and felt that he could not fulfill his mentorship duties effectively. He stated that while the decision was difficult, it was the right time to step down.

He expressed his gratitude to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and cricket fans for their support throughout his mentorship tenure.

On Tuesday, reports emerged that the PCB had decided to relieve all mentors of their duties. According to sources, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi conducted a performance review of the mentorship roles, leading to the decision.

The mentors Waqar Younis, Shoaib Malik, Saqlain Mushtaq, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Sarfaraz Ahmed have reportedly been let go. However, Misbah and Sarfaraz are expected to be given new responsibilities within the PCB.
