Former Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik has announced his retirement from the HBL Pakistan Super League, ending his playing career in the tournament after ten consecutive seasons.

Malik shared the announcement on social media ahead of PSL Season 11, confirming that he will no longer feature as a player in the league. He thanked the PSL for the memories and relationships built since the league began in 2016.

“I have enjoyed every moment of my journey in the PSL over the last ten years,” Malik wrote. “It is time to move on, but my love for cricket and desire to contribute to it will remain.”

Shoaib Malik is among the most experienced players in PSL history. He played for four teams during his career — Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. His last season was PSL 10, where he represented Quetta Gladiators.

In terms of performance, Malik finishes as the fourth-highest run-scorer in PSL, scoring 2,350 runs in 92 matches with an average of 33. He also took 17 wickets, often contributing as a part-time spinner.

Malik’s impact goes beyond the PSL. In overall T20 cricket, he is the sixth-highest run-scorer in the world, with more than 13,500 runs across domestic and international competitions.

While his PSL playing career has come to an end, Malik has indicated that he will continue to stay connected with cricket in other roles. As the PSL moves into a new phase, the league will do so without one of its longest-serving players.
