Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah emphasized the collective responsibility of society in raising children, during his keynote address at an international conference held at the Aga Khan University Auditorium, Karachi.
The conference, titled “Raising Children in Our Times,” was organized by the Aga Khan University’s Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED). It brought together education experts, parents, policymakers, and other stakeholders to discuss modern challenges in child development.
Commending AKU-IED for organizing the event, Minister Shah stated that child upbringing is not an individual’s duty but a shared social responsibility. He reiterated his belief that “it takes a whole village to raise a child.”
Highlighting the balance between tradition and innovation, he stressed that the future depends not only on artificial intelligence but on creative education and moral upbringing. He added that children must be rooted in their cultural values while embracing technology and change with open minds.
Minister Shah also noted the Sindh government’s efforts in education reforms, including historic teacher recruitments and the introduction of a teaching license system to professionalize the field. He concluded by saying, “If we want to see an enlightened nation tomorrow, we must create an enlightened environment today.
