India’s rising star Abhishek Sharma has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for September 2025, recognizing his spectacular performances throughout the Asia Cup 2025.

The left-handed opener played a pivotal role in India’s strong campaign, amassing 314 runs in seven innings at a staggering strike rate of 200, making him the highest run-scorer of the tournament. His explosive batting at the top order consistently gave India powerful starts and proved crucial in pressure situations.

Among his standout performances was a blistering century against Pakistan, where he dominated the bowlers with fearless stroke play, followed by another crucial half-century in the knockout stage that secured India’s spot in the final. His aggressive yet composed approach has drawn praise from former cricketers and fans alike.

By securing this monthly honour, Abhishek beat out fellow nominees Kuldeep Yadav and Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett, both of whom had also delivered impressive performances during the same period.

Reacting to the announcement, Abhishek expressed gratitude to his teammates and coaching staff, saying:

“It’s always special when your hard work gets recognized. The Asia Cup was an important tournament for us, and I’m happy that I could contribute to the team’s success.”

The ICC Player of the Month Award is presented to male and female cricketers who deliver exceptional performances across international matches during a specific month. With this achievement, Abhishek Sharma joins the elite company of Indian players who have previously claimed the honour, further establishing himself as one of the most exciting young talents in world cricket.
