The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has announced the introduction of the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) program in selected government schools as a pilot project. The initiative, launched in collaboration with Cambridge International, aims to provide public school students access to globally recognized education standards and enhance their academic and professional readiness.
The announcement was made at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards ceremony held in Karachi, where 317 students from across Pakistan were honored for exceptional performance in Cambridge examinations. Students from Sindh and Balochistan collectively received 120 awards, including 26 for highest marks globally and 53 for provincial distinctions.
Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah, addressing the ceremony as chief guest, congratulated the awardees and emphasized the importance of an education system that encourages creativity, innovation, and practical learning skills to meet modern challenges.
Cambridge International representatives, including Exams Director Amanda Ingram and Country Director Uzma Yousuf, commended the achievements and resilience of Pakistani students, noting that strong academic foundations and community support enable learners to excel in a technology-driven world.
