The creators of Netflix’s global sensation ‘Squid Game’ have finally opened up about why many scenes involving the VIP characters were removed from the final cut of the show’s third and final season.
Nam Na-young, the series editor, told Entertainment Weekly that although there were originally more scenes with the VIPs, most were cut during editing. He explained,
“When we are in the VIP room, the tension kind of releases, so I prioritized focusing on the contestants’ emotions and reactions during the games.”
This shift aimed to keep viewers immersed in the high-stakes drama experienced by the players rather than diluting it with VIP moments.
The season, which dropped on June 27, 2025, continues to follow protagonist Gi-hun as he returns to the deadly games where only one survivor wins a large cash prize.
