Sukkur — In a disturbing case of animal cruelty, a female camel was allegedly subjected to severe abuse by a powerful landlord in the Saleh Pat area of Tehsil Saleh Pat, Sukkur. Authorities say the camel was tied to a tractor, dragged, beaten with sticks, and had her leg broken — all reportedly for drinking water from a nearby field.
The camel’s owner said he tried to get medical treatment at a local hospital, but doctors refused to treat the animal.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident. He condemned the act as intolerable and ordered the District Council Chairman of Sukkur to ensure the animal receives proper medical care.
Police have filed a case under animal cruelty charges on the owner’s complaint. Of the three suspects named in the case, one has been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to capture the other two.
